This pictures shows the car before I bought it in November 1999. In the following pictures you will see major steps of restoration.
I bought it with original fenders and tried some Porsche rims on.
As I removed the fenders I saw some rustiness and decided to restore the whole car (February 2000).
So I had to remove the body from the floor pan ..
Five days later the rusty steel plates where removed. I got some help from my friend Horst who is specialist in car-steel plates.
Now you see the welded steel plates (original VW).
I drove the body for it´s second and final sandblasting to Mayer & Zick (Memmingen).
After sandblasting the body where galvanized to prevent any rust in future.
Horst with the sandblasted and galvanized floor pan makes some final spot-wise welding.
Here you see me varnishing the floor pan with a special paint which is normally used for carwash-automates. It guarantees long term water resistance.
Now you see the floor pan´s final black finish. It´s already waxed inside.
Upside down on the car trailer with sealed welding seams. It´s treated with a special base coat which got good adhesion attributes on zinc.
The arrival: the body with it´s final silver paint back home in Landshut at my garage.
My friends Armin, Sebi, Eric, Rainer and Andreas helped me to turn the body around when I had to wax the insides.
The front window, the cable loom, seals and the ventilation where built in.
This is the back axle leg where the disc brake calipers will find it´s place.
In July 2002 the beetle is on it´s wheels again and gasp´s for a breath of fresh air in front of my garage.
You see the height adjustable suspension strut and the special Kerscher - Stabilizer.
My friend Klaus Kiefel and I are covering the dashboard with gray leather – the same leather as the seats are made of.
Here you see the the leather shapes which will cover the controls and instruments.
Klaus sews the pieces together.

For this mission the body had to be lifted at least 10cm from the base of the Beetle.
