Joachim and I had the plan
to restore two Jubi Beetles in 4 days. We started when Joachim came
form Berlin where he´s living - on the 20. August 2003 at
22:15.
We had to order several new
parts to fulfill this plan.
Jochi already removed all
the seats - we don´t know on what he´s sitting but it
seems like fun...
Now we had to remove the
engine.
Ise is helping Jochi to remove
the floor pan from the body.
At 0:22 in the morning the
floor pan is released after two hours of work.
After we could get some sleep
we had to remove the thick tar layer from the floor pan.
In the background you can see my Sunroof Beetle waiting for the
same procedure.
You see the floor pan of
both Beetles.
Ise was a big help when she
removed the rests of the tar with thinner.
Horst and I beated out the
floor pan.
A typical picture of Horst:
His favorite job the spot-wise welding.
I am sealing the welding
seams.
The base coated part like
the front axle and it´s axel legs.
Jochi shows us an axel leg
with pressed in link.
The floor pan becomes black.
After 4 days of hard work
we had to stop. We stored the bodys in my garage. They had to sleep
there until June 2004.
The zinced screws and nuts
for the front axle.
The floor pan is waiting
for the engine.
The Beetle is on its wheel´s
again is waiting for the body.
The wedding: The floor pan
and the body become one!
Now they get fixed.
To fix it I used stainless
steel bushings (special made).
The fenders get fixed.
First time it looks like
a car again and is in good company!
Looks nice! but the seats
and the roof interior missing....to be contiued!
| |
| Jubis in line... |
